"Because I Love You"
A poem by Janet Broad

I’m here Jesus,
Where you have called me to be
I’m looking up at your cross.

I can see my sins
In the thorns
And the nails,
Forgotten for me.

I’m closer now
I can reach up and touch your feet,
Wet, shaking,
And dying for me.

I’m holding on to your cross
And I fall to my knees,
I can feel your blood
Covering me.

You have taken me to your tomb
And I stand looking in,
I can see the stone,
Immovable,
Pushed away for me.

Now Lord I am here
In my room, looking up
And I can see you Lord
Preparing a place for me.

My heart overflows with tears
And I cry out
“Why would you do this for me?”
And clearly in the silence
 I hear your reply
‘Because I love you’

Verse of the Day
[Life Through the Spirit] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2
