"Because I Love You"
A poem by Janet Broad
I’m here Jesus, Where you have called me to be I’m looking up at your cross.
I can see my sins In the thorns And the nails, Forgotten for me.
I’m closer now I can reach up and touch your feet, Wet, shaking, And dying for me.
I’m holding on to your cross And I fall to my knees, I can feel your blood Covering me.
You have taken me to your tomb And I stand looking in, I can see the stone, Immovable, Pushed away for me.
Now Lord I am here In my room, looking up And I can see you Lord Preparing a place for me.
My heart overflows with tears And I cry out “Why would you do this for me?” And clearly in the silence I hear your reply ‘Because I love you’
