Pastor Trevor Ramsey
 |
Trevor Ramsey is our 50 year old pastor (yes, it is hard to believe isn't it, looking at the photo) who was at the very beginning of the church in 1996. In fact he preached the very first sermon in GBC on Philippains 1 vv 1,2 on How to Put the Joy Back into your Life.
He's the father of 4. Oldest daughter Rebecca has completed 2 degrees at Queens University in Belfast and is now a qualified Social Worker. Philip has graduated in Media Studies at Univ of Ulster in Coleraine, also has an MA and is currently studying for a Ph D, because he reckons being a student is better than having a proper job!!! Rachel's in L6 at Belfast High School and is mapping out her future to be rich and successful. The youngest is 8 year old Nathan, who just thinks his dad's the 'coolest' dad on the planet, especially when they play football and cricket together. The whole family are involved together in the work and ministry of GBC

Trevor was married to Sheela for 27 years. In April of 2006 she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and after 18 months of intense treatment and even more intense prayer, the Lord saw fit to take her to Himself. She passed into glory on 26th November 2007. The whole experience has been demanding in many ways but has given a unique insight intot he place of suffering in the service of Christ. Despite that the whole family desperately miss her smile, her unfailing optimism and her sheer commonsense in the midst of the demands of ministry.
Converted to Christ at 17 (in the back seat of a mini car!), Trevor studied at Belfast Bible College and the family served as missionaries with Baptist Missions in Limerick in the Republic of Ireland for 8 years. He serves on the Publications Board of Irish Baptist Life for whom he writes articles as well as frequent articles for, Lifetimes, Christian Herald and others as well as regular appearnces on the BBC's Thought for the Day
Trevor is passionate about the power of preaching and the local church. "When you're involved in church life, you're changing lives and then you're changing the world. There can be no greater way to spend the short time we have on this earth."

[Life Through the Spirit] Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 biblegateway.com, (C)NIV |
